These terms apply to your use of the Ekkooz app and this website. By using the app you agree to these terms. Take your time to read them; we have kept them as clear as we can.
Who we are
Ekkooz is a product of Bootstrapper B.V., registered at Torenlaan 5, 1402 AT Bussum, the Netherlands, listed with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 99673789. Where we or Ekkooz appears below, we mean Bootstrapper B.V.
What Ekkooz is, and what it is not
Ekkooz is a wellness app that supports you in daily life around recovery, for people in recovery and for the people beside them. Ekkooz is explicitly not care. The app gives no medical diagnoses, no medication advice, and no treatment plans, and it does not replace a doctor, therapist, or other professional. The content in the app comes from people with lived experience, not from clinicians.
In a crisis or acute danger
Ekkooz is not intended for emergencies. If you are in crisis or there is acute danger, call your national emergency number or a crisis and suicide prevention line in your country directly. The app cannot provide that help and is no substitute for it.
Your account
Most features require an account. You are responsible for the data you enter and for handling access to your account with care. If you enter data about other people, such as trusted contacts, you confirm that you may share and use it for the purpose within the app.
What we ask of you
We ask you to use Ekkooz as intended: as support for yourself and with respect for others. Within the community that means, concretely:
- no hurtful, threatening, hateful, or intimidating messages,
- no content that encourages self-harm or dangerous behaviour,
- no advertising, spam, or attempts to recruit others off the app,
- no abuse of the app, no attempts to bypass security or disrupt the service.
Community messages are moderated. We may hide or remove content and, in the case of repeated or serious abuse, restrict or terminate access to an account.
What belongs to whom
The app itself, with all its content, texts, design, and the Ekkooz brand, belongs to us or our licensors. What you enter yourself remains yours; you only grant us the right to process that content as far as needed to make the app work, as described in the privacy policy.
Paid features
Some Ekkooz features are part of a paid subscription. Prices, what the subscription includes, and the terms for renewal and cancellation are shown at the moment you make a purchase. Purchases through an app store follow that store's terms and refund policy.
Liability
You remain responsible for your health, your choices, and your use of the app. We do our best to offer Ekkooz carefully and reliably, but we do not guarantee any specific recovery outcome, nor uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage arising from the use of the app or from decisions you make based on the app. This limitation does not apply in the case of intent or deliberate recklessness on our part.
Changes to the app or these terms
Ekkooz keeps developing, so features may change, be added, or disappear. We may also amend these terms. For substantial changes we will let you know beforehand. If you keep using the app afterwards, the new version applies.
Termination
You can stop using Ekkooz at any time and have your account deleted. We may restrict or terminate an account in the case of serious or repeated abuse, or if we discontinue the service. What happens to your data on termination is set out in the privacy policy.
Governing law
These terms and your use of Ekkooz are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court of the District Court of Midden-Nederland, unless a mandatory legal rule designates another court.
